Ryanair to leverage its scale forcing new round of subsidies in October

Ryanair Carries more Passengers than EasyJet and British Airways together

Ryanair today (29th June) celebrated IATA confirmation that it is the world’s airline carrying most passengers among its European counterparts.  IATA Annual World Air Transport Statistics for 2010 shows Ryanair carrying 71.2m international passengers last year, 62 million more than Aer Lingus,  almost 30m more than second placed Lufthansa (44.6m) and almost 10m more than easyjet (37m) and British Airways (26m) combined. Ryanair celebrated being the world’s favourite airline by releasing 1million €9.99 seats for travel in September on over 1,000 Ryanair routes throughout Europe.
Additionally it is leading a series of announcement, pressuring in this case, Catalonia's government about its set plans to leave airport bases of Reus (Tarragona) and Girona (Catalonia) affecting local operations and a number of linked destinations. For example in Girona stops from operating, it takes with it 19 routes, 5 domestic (Madrid, Ibiza, Sevilla, Tenerife y Lanzarote) and 14 international (Aarhus, Dusseldorf, Gdansk, Stockholm/Vasteras, Hamburg, Kristianstad, Larnaca, Lille, Londond, Oslo, Perugia, Plodvdiv, Poitiers y Szcezecin) Read more....
